Staff reflect on Peace Camp

BPFNA members gather at Peace Camp in Mars Hill, NC. (Dick Myers)

Thank You

We want to express our deepest gratitude to you for being part of this special celebration, commemorating the 40th anniversary of our organization. Your presence (in person or in prayer), enthusiasm, and commitment to peace and justice were fundamental to the success of this event.

This year, our central theme, "Peace Rooted in Justice," reminded us of the importance of striving for a lasting peace that can only be achieved through justice. Your valuable contributions and participation in every moment of the conference inspire us to continue with this mission.

Throughout these four decades, BPFNA-Bautistas por la Paz has grown and strengthened thanks to people like you, who bring energy, ideas, and passion. We hope this conference has been a source of inspiration and that we continue working together to build more just and peaceful spaces for everybody.

Thank you for your continued support and for being part of this great family. See you at the next conference and other activities!

With gratitude and hope,

Highlights

Dear Friends,

“What was your highlight of peace camp?”

Some have asked me if I have a highlight, but I’m not sure I can choose just one! From listening to the beautiful music of guitarist Darrell Adams and pianist Horacio Vivares, to deepening our leadership in Apartheid Free with Allison Tanner and hearing Nancy Hastings Sehested remind us “our name is JOY!” at our 40th Anniversary worship, there were so many highlights at peace camp! What were yours?

But one of the highlights was seeing how generous everyone was during the offertory each night. With gifts to support the Hester Center for Peace and Justice, RawTools South, and BPFNA’s own peace camp scholarships and Peace Fund, we raised over $3,100! In continuing a spirit of abundance and generosity, I wanted to appeal to everyone reading: a gift to BPFNA will certainly be a highlight as we transition out of “Peace Camp mode.” If you can support our scholarship efforts to make peace camp accessible to everyone, give to BPFNA today. Make a gift right now to invest in our efforts for cultivating a peace rooted in justice!

As my feet begin to recover and I begin to catch up on other work, I am so grateful to the BPFNA staff, Erica, Kristen, Ruben, and Set who supported camp and especially to Ximena Ulloa who led us all to carry out an amazing summer conference in Mars Hill!

As peace camp 2024 becomes a treasured memory, I hope you’ll continue to join us in sharing your resources to keep our movement strong. Thank you!

Peace,

BPFNA
