Palestinians have long named the oppressive structures under which they are forced to live “apartheid,” and now there is growing consensus among international human rights organizations that this is the case. This summer BPFNA~Bautistas por la Paz joined a growing number of communities in pledging to take action against Israeli apartheid.
On Thursday, Oct. 19, Rev. Allison Tanner, long-time BPFNA partner and National Organizer for the Apartheid-Free Communities initiative will help us better understand how Israeli apartheid functions and the ways both Christian and interfaith communities can work together for Palestinian liberation.
The Reverend Allison J. Tanner, Ph.D., is a pastor, educator and organizer working for justice and healing in her community. She works for the American Friends Service Committee as the National Organizer of the Apartheid-Free Communities initiative, as the Pastor of Public Witness at BPFNA partner congregation Lakeshore Avenue Baptist Church in Oakland, California, and she serves as the Alliance of Baptist’s Palestine Advocacy Representative.
